The Barrow & District Sociey exists only as a training society, and serves ringers from a number of local areas. There are very good reasons for being a resident member of the society in whose territory you live, including the fact that most offer members public liability & personal accident insurance. The Ringing Centre is part of the Northern Branch of the Lincoln Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers, to which the majority of the Society members belong as resident members. Most of the others are resident members of the Beverley & District Society and the Yorkshire Association and a smaller number are from other parts of the country. Central Council of Church Bell Ringers (CCCBR)This is ringing's international governing body and it offers many services to ringers. Examples are the relatively new online version of "Dove", the directory of all rings of bells and the Network for Ringing Training (NRT) which is a way that those interested in ringing training can keep in touch with each other. A recent development has been the Framework for Training Ringers, which provides a code of practice which any tower can use as a checklist that their training methods and facilities are safe and effective. Check out the website! NEW - launched at the 2008 Roadshow: The Belfry Forums. This is a Bulletin Board which provides an easy to use discussion facility for all ringers. You can search to see if a topic's already been discussed, contribute to existing ones or create new ones. PLEASE REGISTER and more importantly become an active contributor!! The Ringing WorldRinging's weekly, not-for-profit newspaper, which relies on subscribers for its continued operation. It is obliged, as a matter of record to print a copy of every peal rung and it also prints all quarter peals that are submitted. OtherThere are numerous useful resources online. Campanophile is a searchable online database of peals, quarters and events. When peals/quarters are submitted they can be automatically forwarded on to the Ringing World. The Visual Method Archive is a facility for looking up methods. PealBase is a more comprehensive database than the Ringing World one, as it has older records included. And if you don't know to start but you have plenty of time, try Roger Bailey's "ringing info" site. If you are really blessed with time, go to YouTube and put in some ringing related search terms! There are a couple of links in the list to get you started!
This links page is hopefully only a starting point and hopes to offer a flavour of the plethora of ringing-related sites that are now to be found on the internet. If you come across something you think should be here please let us know so that it can be added! Enjoy browsing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
