A Central Council recognised Ringing Centre is a combination of people, tower bells, technology and other facilities. Centres promote high standards of teaching, support ringing training in their area and support other teachers of ringing. In 1999 a generous benefaction came from the Worshipful Company of Founders, one of the City Livery Companies. A total of £50,000 was made available over a period of several years to enable grants to be made towards equipment and to fund the training of people to run the ringing centres. There is now an annual prize awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to the teaching of ringing, particularly where the focus is on young people.
